Federal Medical & Dental College FMDC Islamabad

Federal Medical & Dental College (FMDC) is the long awaited first public sector Medical College in the capital city of Pakistan. The college is duly recognized by PMDC and is affiliated with the Quaid-e-Azam University, which is ranked as the number one university of Pakistan by Higher Education Commission HEC.
The institute caters for students from all over Pakistan with seats reserved for all the provinces as per approved government quota. PIMS is the main affiliated hospital; however, additionally Federal General Hospital has been up-graded at NIH to a 200 bedded facility for provision of clinical learning opportunities for the students.
To standardize undergraduate medical education for the promotion and improvement of medical research culture, various interactive sessions, small group activities and demonstrations are being conducted.
The need to inculcate the concepts of lifelong learning into teaching and learning across all levels is being increasingly recognized. FM & DC stands responsible for the undergraduate training and con
tinuing medical education of health professionals. The curricula of educational program being offered also includes orientation on priority health problems in all segments of the community, which are observed both in the hospital and community setting along with the range of health issues from health promotion to palliative care.
FM & DC is committed to ensure that the learning environment responds to the ever-increasing knowledge base and leads to the turnout of well-rounded professionals. It is also equally important to make certain that students understand the role and contribution of various health care disciplines and also have the ability to practice within a multi disciplinary approach.

To be a centre of excellence in the education and development of the next generation of physicians and scientists; discover and translate new knowledge in biomedical sciences; provide cutting-edge, interdisciplinary and compassionate clinical care of the highest quality; and improve health of the communities being served.
Admission
Every effort is taken to ensure transparency and addressing concerns during induction of students at FMDC; for which the National Testing Service (NTS) has been assigned the responsibility of adherence to the relevant PMDC rules and regulations.
Curriculum and Training
FMDC strongly believes that the curriculum should reflect the principles and values of the medical profession. The education system and the designed curriculum is a hybrid model based on a combination of contemporary teaching system; and also incorporated the preliminary application of knowledge of basic sciences to clinical problems. Students will be given opportunities of exposure to clinical problems relevant to the level of knowledge. The vibrant faculty however, will be expected to constantly strive for excellence, respond to and incorporate change in medical knowledge and practice through seeking and incorporating best evidence for curricular design and implementation.
